Soul Points are a unique feature added in Version 2 of Rakenzarn Tales. They act as a third feature in combat and allow for more actions to the player.
Soul Points function significantly differently compared to HP and RP. SP starts at 0 and is accumulated from taking damage, inflicting damage, guarding or using certain items, up to a total of 100. Soul Points can be used for four actions: Special Skills, Summon Cards, Soul Break and Soul Unity.
Special Skills
Special Skills are skills that characters only have access to when using certain pieces of equipment, such as a weapon or a Rune Class.
In Tales, these are called Weapon Skills and is a feature most heavily used by Kyuu and his Arxus Rogue class. Changing your equipment will change the moves available to you.
In Frontier Story, Special Skills change depending on your equipped Rune Classes. They are mostly used to active physical skills, such as weapon attacks.
Summon Cards
Summon Cards are equipable items that allow a player to gain assistance from other characters, like summon moves in other RPGs. Each character can equip one support card in their accessory slot with their own support effects and SP costs.

Soul Break
If a character's Soul Points reach 100, they can activate an extremely powerful move called Soul Break. These attacks are strong and accurate, usually hitting with a certain element or against a specific enemy type. The downside is that Elemental/enemy type resistances still come into play and it requires the use of all Soul Points to activate.
In Version 3 of Rakenzarn Tales, using a Soul Break will also grant the party a Boost. These last for four turns and will buff the party depending on which category the character who uses it is in.
In Rakenzarn: Frontier Story, each main party member has at a total of 3 Soul Breaks. Once they officially join the party and advance their relationship with Makoto one level, their default Soul Break is unlocked. The rest of their Soul Breaks can be unlocked by completing their own respective quests.

Soul Unity
Soul Unity is a combination attack available from Chapter 10 onward. It requires two or more party members, both of whom have 50 or more SP available. The resulting attack is more powerful than the standard Soul Break and the party members get the Boost buff for a one-turn defense increase, but it consumes RP as well as the turns of both characters involved. Some Soul Unity attacks will be different based on who initiates it.
